Aging Skin: How to Identify the Best Natural Skin Creams

by Catalina Igor

No matter what your skin care routine is, as you age you need to change your skin care to adapt to aging skin care needs. As we age, our skin becomes more fragile and sensitive to the chemicals contained in conventional skin care products. However, you can opt for natural skin care creams to help deal with your sensitivity issues.

Now, it's already a huge task trying to decide between traditional creams, but having to choose a natural skin cream can sometimes seem frightful. But the real problem is not knowing what to look for when trying to purchase any skin care product.

What to Look for in a Natural Face Cream

One would think that a "natural" skin care product would never contain irritating ingredients. However, this is not always the case, so reading labels is very important. Here are a few ingredients you should look for and a few you should avoid.

First, you should definitely avoid products that contain alcohol in the first five ingredients (cetyl alcohol and stearyl alchol are okay). This ingredient is known for drying out skin. In fact, even oily skin can be affected when exposed to products containing alcohol.

Also try and avoid the following ingredients:

*Petrolatum

This ingredient is added to natural skin creams to act as a moisturizer. However, it is anything but moisturizing. Petrolatum actually inhibits the skin's natural moisturizing processes and stimulates sun damage. Petrolatum is sometimes called mineral oil or petroleum jelly.

*Parabens

Parabens can be found in almost every skin care product because they are supposed to suppress microbial proliferation. However, it is also capable of irritating the skin and causing allergic reactions. This ingredient may appear as ethyl, methyl, propyl, and butyl parabens.

*Man-made Colors and Fragrances

Synthetic colors are dangerous because they are coal-tars and can lead to cancer. As for synthetic fragrances, they can alter hormonal production. Always look for products that are fragrance free.

Once you have made sure that your skin care product does not contain these ingredients, you can check to see if it contains any of the following ingredients.

*Snail Serum

Snail serum Nature's very own moisturizer. This product cannot be reproduced synthetically. So if the label says helix aspersa muller glycoconjugates, you know you will be getting an all-natural product.

This ingredient works as a natural enzyme to stimulate our immune system. This action helps our bodies clear out dead and dying skin cells while triggering the production of new, healthy cells. In addition, this revolutionary ingredient has a composition similar to that of the human body, making it a safe way to treat skin problems.

*Licorice Root

The extract from this root can be soothing to the skin. In product labels you will probably find it as glycyrrhizin. Be warned that some people have experienced irritation when using licorice root, so before applying it all over your body, do a patch test to confirm if you can or cannot use this ingredient.

BIOSKINREJUVENATION is a natural anti aging cream that contains natural ingredients such as snail serum and Rumex occidentalis extract. Snail serum - or Helix Aspersa Muller extract - helps soothe and rejuvenate damaged skin while the second ingredient helps deal with hyperpigmentation issues. This natural facial wrinkle cream is especially targeted to treat older skin types and that is why it is so gentle.
